When dad is traveling all week, you seek refuge at sunny, warm places. I’m grateful for a MIL that lets me put a $5 plastic yard ornament in front of her beautiful pool…and fill it with expensive golf balls and Hot Wheels.
I’ve had these stupid babiators since Rye was a year old, and NOW he finally decides he likes sunglasses.
Visit Greenville. It’s a hop, skip and a jump from Atlanta. It was a perfect, quick getaway, with some AMAZING views. Downtown is a good size, not too big or small, great shopping and eats. Running paths + hiking = perfect escape. What? Like you expected us to sit and drink champagne all day?
To adventure is to find yourself whole. Happy anniversary, Roo. To 8 years of collecting moments…(in no particular order) #eightisgreat

A river runs through. Seriously.
This past weekend we had another nice hint of spring. The boys spent hours upon hours in our front yard throwing rocks in the river. Being in and close to nature is huge for us, especially with all the demands of being connected to everything electronic. I am looking forward to warmer weather and Keens, but for now it’s boots and the occasional wet bottom.
Nothing seems more genuine than starting out with someone else’s words. There’s a quote from Eat, Pray, Love that I should have tattooed on my forehead.
“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.” ― Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love
I’m becoming increasingly tired hearing the worry people have over others. Do you. I know I do a ton of random crap, probably a lot of stuff others don’t give a sh*t about. But I do. People will try to take away your authenticity every single day. I’ve had to truly ground myself in my family, close friends and let everything flow through them. Haters gonna hate.
In certain places, certain cultures some things matter and others don’t. Everything is relative. Give yourself some credit and spend your energy with people, situations and mediums that have a positive influence on you.
Big Sky Montana, looks a bit like A River Runs Through it, and was every bit beautiful. good sleep, good skiing, good beer. We’d ski through lunch, then back at it until hot tub time. Ski vacations are the best, you’re always doing something but it’s still relaxing. Since I can get Roo to sit on the beach, I get why he loves this type of vaca. Anytime you can get me started with a breakfast buffet, sign me up. I dream about those pancakes.
Montana is also on my list of places to visit in the summer. The rivers were gorgeous, it’s not overrun by tourists and there is a ton of outdoorsy stuff to do.
Now off to plan a summer holiday — seriously.
